Project Overview
IT ADMINZ successfully deployed a Red Hat OpenShift bare-metal cluster environment for MTN Nigeria — one of Africa's largest telecommunications providers — through the contracting partner Tech Array. The project established a scalable, high-performance enterprise container platform to support telecom workloads and modern application deployment requirements.
Deploying OpenShift on bare-metal rather than virtualized infrastructure was a deliberate architectural choice to deliver maximum compute performance and scheduling efficiency for demanding telecom workloads — ensuring the platform could handle production traffic at the scale MTN Nigeria requires.
Scope of Services
Solution Implemented
The project included implementation and configuration of a Red Hat OpenShift cluster deployed directly on bare-metal infrastructure. This architecture eliminates the hypervisor layer entirely, delivering enhanced performance, predictable latency, and full control over hardware resources — critical requirements for telecom-grade workloads.
The cluster was designed and configured to support containerized workloads with enterprise-grade Kubernetes orchestration and scalability capabilities — providing MTN Nigeria with a future-ready platform for cloud-native application deployment and digital transformation across their operations.
Technologies & Vendors
Business Value
Delivered a production-ready OpenShift cluster capable of supporting MTN Nigeria's telecom workloads and application portfolio at enterprise scale.
Bare-metal deployment eliminates virtualization overhead — delivering higher throughput, lower latency, and better resource efficiency for telecom workloads.
OpenShift provides the foundation for MTN Nigeria's cloud-native application modernization — enabling containerized deployments and microservices adoption.
The cluster architecture supports horizontal scaling — additional worker nodes can be added to expand capacity as MTN Nigeria's workloads grow.
OpenShift's enterprise Kubernetes capabilities enable MTN Nigeria's teams to deploy, scale, and manage containerized applications faster — supporting the rapid iteration required in a competitive telecom market.
